Electrical Technician

About the role

NG Bailey is establishing a brand‑new team to support a flagship building at the University of Bristol. As an Electrical Technician you will join from day one, helping to shape the delivery of electrical building services on a high‑profile campus site.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical building services systems in line with SFG20 and agreed programmes.
• Respond to reactive electrical faults, perform repairs and minor installations, and meet contractual SLAs and KPIs.
• Maintain and fault‑find electrical distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power and control systems.
• Record all activities, compliance documentation and job updates using the client’s CAFM system.
• Build positive relationships with university staff, colleagues and service partners while delivering excellent customer service.
• Follow risk assessments, method statements and NG Bailey health & safety procedures at all times.
• Support subcontractors as required and participate in the out‑of‑hours call‑out rota.

Required profile

• Proactive, customer‑focused attitude with a strong problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, brand‑new team.
• Experience in commercial or facilities‑based electrical maintenance environments.
• Commitment to safety and high‑quality service delivery.

Required skills

• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of electrical systems.
• Fault‑finding on electrical distribution, lighting and emergency lighting.
• Maintenance of small power and control systems.
• Use of CAFM software for recording work activities.
• Knowledge of SFG20 standards.
