Electrical Technician – Utilities (Engineering Operator)

About the role

The role is a multi‑skilled Electrical Technician within the Utilities department, supporting high‑speed packaging lines and production areas. You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance to improve plant reliability, safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance for utilities equipment such as water treatment, pumping systems, boilers, NH3 and CO2 equipment.
• Perform electrical maintenance including PLC‑controlled systems, fault finding, machinery diagnosis, instrument calibration and use of plant optimisation tools.
• Record all maintenance activities in SAP, liaise with OEM suppliers for spares/services, and support improvement projects.

Required profile

• Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ3 or equivalent electrical qualification (ONC or equivalent).
• Experience in a multi‑disciplined industrial engineering function with basic PLC and network configuration skills.
• Ability to work safely at heights, in confined spaces and as a lone worker while following health, safety and hygiene standards.

Required skills

• PLC programming (Siemens S7 or Allen‑Bradley).
• Electrical maintenance – single and three‑phase supplies, fault diagnosis.
• Use of SAP maintenance management system.
• Understanding of IEE 17th Edition standards and HACCP/food safety protocols.
