Electrical Technician – Wastewater Treatment

About the role
Join Southern Water’s Wastewater Treatment Team as an Electrical Technician, responsible for maintaining and repairing wastewater treatment works, sludge centres and pumping stations across Kent.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out reactive and planned maintenance of electrical plant and equipment.
- Install new plant and equipment as required.
- Respond to alarms, fault‑find and resolve or escalate issues.
- Perform inspection and testing on electrical equipment following company procedures.
- Provide technical expertise to internal and external contractors.
- Update company systems and databases accurately and promptly.
- Participate in standby cover as needed.
Required profile
- Level 3 NVQ Electrical qualification with certificates.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Problem‑solving ability and capacity to work under pressure.
- Desirable experience in the water industry and knowledge of pumping station operation and wastewater treatment processes.
- Understanding of health and safety legislation.
Required skills
- Electrical maintenance and installation.
- Fault diagnosis and alarm response.
- Inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
- Use of company systems and databases for record keeping.
