Electrician – Marine Shipbuilding (Shift Allowance)

About the role
Join BAE Systems as an Electrician working on the construction of Type 26 frigates. You will install and terminate a variety of cables and electrical equipment in a marine environment, ensuring ships are powered and controlled to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities
- Install multi‑core, single‑core and coaxial cables, junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers and switches.
- Terminate cables and mount electrical equipment to trade standards.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with shipbuilding teams to meet project timelines.
- Ensure all work complies with safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
Required profile
- Completed Modern Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3) or equivalent trade qualification.
- Valid SJIB card.
- Experience in marine installations or large‑scale industrial environments.
- Knowledge of risk assessments, PUWER, COSHH and safe working procedures.
- Ability to read trade drawings, electrical schematics and follow tag‑out and proving‑dead processes.
Required skills

- Mounting and earthing of electrical components.
- Risk assessment and compliance with PUWER and COSHH.
- Tag‑out and proving‑dead safety procedures.
