Electrician – Shipbuilding – Glasgow (Shift Allowance)

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a qualified Electrician to join the electrical team responsible for installing power and control systems on Type 26 frigates. The role is based onsite in Glasgow (Govan and Scotstoun) and offers a competitive salary with a shift allowance.

Key responsibilities

• Install a variety of cables (multi‑core, single‑core, coaxial) and electrical systems such as junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers and switches.
• Terminate cables and install all related electrical equipment to trade standards.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with shipbuilding teams to ensure timely and efficient completion of installations.
• Ensure all work complies with safety, quality and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Completed Modern Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3) or equivalent trade qualification.
• Hold a valid SJIB card.
• Experience in marine installations or major industrial environments.
• Familiarity with risk assessments, PUWER, COSHH and safe working requirements.
• Ability to read trade drawings, electrical schematics and technical instructions.
