Electronics Hardware Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer to join a forward‑thinking engineering business that creates cutting‑edge subsea technology. You will become a technical authority, leading the design and development of advanced underwater instrumentation such as acoustic modems, Doppler Velocity Logs and data‑logging systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop analogue and digital electronic hardware for subsea products.
• Lead hardware design reviews and provide technical guidance throughout the development lifecycle.
• Develop embedded firmware in Embedded C and support implementation on microprocessor‑based platforms.
• Create low‑power, low‑noise circuits suitable for demanding marine environments.
• Support EMC design, testing and compliance with relevant standards.
• Produce clear engineering documentation for manufacturing and future development.
• Perform hands‑on electronics and embedded software fault finding.
• Collaborate closely with production, software, systems and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement across the function.

Required profile

• Degree (2:1 or above) in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial experience in analogue and digital electronics design.
• Proven experience with FPGA and microprocessor‑based system design.
• Embedded C programming experience and working knowledge of C++.
• Experience designing low‑power, low‑noise electronic systems and applying EMC principles.
• Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
