Embedded Linux Engineer

About the role

Technical Futures Ltd is seeking an Embedded Linux Engineer to deliver technical solutions across a variety of challenging projects. You will work closely with customers, contributing to Linux‑based, bare‑metal, RTOS and device‑driver development.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and test embedded systems for robotics, sensing, communications and IoT.
• Develop Linux‑based software, device trees, kernel and user‑space components on SoC platforms.
• Work on bare‑metal, RTOS, algorithms and communication protocol implementations.
• Collaborate with FPGA and electronics teams from concept through to delivery.
• Provide technical consultancy and support to customers.

Required profile

• 2.1+ BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics or related field.
• Experience with Embedded Linux development (device trees, kernel/user‑space, SoC platforms).
• Willingness to learn or experience with Yocto.
• Real‑time Embedded C/C++ development experience.
• Proficiency in a high‑level language such as Python.
• Broader embedded experience (RTOS, bare‑metal, algorithms, communication protocols).
• Strong customer‑facing skills and motivation to work in a consultancy environment.
• British passport holder.
• Interest in open architecture standards (OpenCPI, STICS, SOSA) is a plus.
