Employee Relations Manager – 12‑Month Contract (Hybrid)

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join a public‑sector client in Cambridge on a 12‑month bank contract. The role is hybrid, offering a blend of office and remote work while providing specialist HR advice and leading case management.
Key responsibilities
- Manage HR case work, advising managers on terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with policy and legislation.
- Lead a team of Employee Relations Advisors, supporting managers on leave, absence, performance, discipline and grievance matters.
- Accompany operational managers to formal meetings and support complex investigations and disciplinary cases.
- Present cases to appeals panels and attend Employment Tribunals as a witness or support.
- Develop communication processes with senior managers and maintain staff consultation arrangements.
- Drive performance improvements through new ways of working and workforce utilisation.
- Conduct job evaluations, draft and review HR policies, and lead specific HR projects.
Required profile
- Proven experience in employee relations within a public‑sector environment.
- Ability to provide high‑quality, specialist advice on employment law and HR best practice.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, working closely with senior managers and divisional heads.
- Experience delivering training programmes and leading HR projects.
