About the role

We are partnering with a modern, forward‑thinking law firm in Brighton that is seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor. This is a unique chance to shape and lead a new employment law department, working closely with senior partners to build the service from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Run and develop the firm’s employment law offering.
• Handle a mix of respondent and claimant matters across a range of sectors.
• Build and manage your own pipeline of work, actively contributing to business development.
• Develop and maintain client relationships to grow the department over time.
• Collaborate with other practice areas to deliver integrated legal solutions.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with solid experience in employment law (experience level flexible).
• Proactive, commercial mindset with a “win‑new‑work” attitude.
• Comfortable advising business clients on complex employment issues.
• Enthusiastic, driven and eager to progress within a growing firm.
• Enjoys autonomy and long‑term project ownership.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law.
• Experience handling both employer (respondent) and employee (claimant) matters.
• Business development and client relationship management.
