Employment Tax Manager

About the role

Ryan is building a focused UK employment tax team to meet rising client demand across compliance, advisory and cost recovery, and is looking for a commercial, innovative employment tax manager. The role leads delivery of UK employment tax services, blending technical depth with client leadership and team management, and helps shape client propositions and grow the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop consultants in the employment tax team, ensure compliance with firm policies and quality controls, allocate work and build technical capability
• Develop client workplans, manage delivery timelines and lead UK employment tax compliance and advisory engagements covering PAYE, NIC, benefits, expenses, off-payroll working, CIS, national minimum wage, equity reporting and termination payments
• Manage HMRC enquiries, reviews and disputes, and give employment tax input to global mobility arrangements
• Monitor projects from scoping to completion, keep abreast of UK legislative changes and support engagement budgeting, billing and recovery
• Contribute to thought leadership, identify opportunities to broaden scope and use technology, and work with wider tax colleagues

Required profile

• CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification preferred
• Typically four to six years' experience in UK employment tax
• Experience coaching and mentoring team members
• Strong client handling and stakeholder management skills

Required skills

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Valuable but not essential: share schemes, global mobility and reward
