Energy Support Officer – Community Partnerships

About the role
The Local Authority in Berkshire is seeking an enthusiastic Energy Support Officer to join its Housing and Energy Support Team. Working directly with residents, you will help households stay warm, lower energy bills, and improve the condition of council‑owned homes.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct home energy efficiency assessments and identify improvement opportunities.
- Provide advice on reducing energy consumption and accessing grants or schemes.
- Liaise with energy suppliers on behalf of residents when required.
- Visit and follow up with residents across the borough, maintaining accurate case records.
- Assess damp and mould issues and give practical prevention advice.
- Collaborate with housing teams and external partner agencies.
- Promote energy support services through community events and outreach.
- Handle customer enquiries professionally and meet service performance targets.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
- Experience providing advice and support to the public.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and keep detailed records.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently and take initiative.
Required skills
- Knowledge of energy efficiency measures and fuel‑poverty support.
- Understanding of damp and mould prevention in residential properties.
- Competence in using case‑management systems and producing reports.
