Engineer – Cloud Infrastructure (Azure)

About the role

Ordnance Survey is seeking engineers to design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform. Based in Southampton with a hybrid working pattern, the role supports the delivery of high‑quality, secure data services used across Great Britain.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, deploy and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure components.
• Apply best‑practice engineering patterns to optimise delivery and ensure robustness.
• Guarantee that systems are secure, well‑tested and maintainable.
• Support and operate services in production, diagnosing and resolving issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver valuable outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes and ways of working.
• Mentor and support other engineers within your area of expertise.

Required profile

• Proven experience configuring, deploying and maintaining Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to apply best‑practice patterns and improve engineering processes.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, especially in production environments.
• Effective collaboration and clear communication with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues in a technical setting.
• Professional, inclusive and thoughtful approach to work.
