Engineering Buyer

About the role

The Engineering Buyer will join a small international procurement team within the Engineering Department of a global raw materials trader. Based in Central London, the role focuses on sourcing spare parts and assemblies for manufacturing clients in the Middle East, with opportunities to source from Europe and the Far East.

Key responsibilities

• Gather internal customer requirements and prepare Request for Quotations (RFQs).
• Receive, compare and evaluate vendor offers, preparing cost sheets and margin calculations.
• Enter offers and purchase orders into the bespoke SAP system.
• Negotiate terms with suppliers and manage vendor selection to meet quality and logistical specifications.
• Raise purchase orders, monitor enquiries, and produce regular procurement reports.
• Maintain product brochures, catalogues and the internal database.

Required profile

• Qualification in Engineering, Technical Studies or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in a buying or procurement function dealing with technical products or spares.
• Strong commercial awareness and familiarity with Incoterms and foreign exchange considerations.
• Excellent numerical ability, high attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Fluent English; additional European language skills are a plus.
