Engineering Document Control Lead

About the role

The Engineering Document Control Lead will head the management of Engineering Control Documents (ECD) within Transport for London’s Engineering & Asset Strategy. The role drives the Technical Standards Modernisation programme, reducing complexity and delivering financial and non‑financial benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Technical Standards Modernisation workstream and the ECD Digital Portal implementation.
• Streamline engineering requirements, champion harmonisation of standards across TfL, and promote innovative technical solutions.
• Collaborate with senior leaders in Finance, Operations, and Capital Delivery to secure buy‑in for new processes.
• Manage procurement, delivery and integration of digital document management tools.
• Realise cash‑able financial benefits and non‑financial improvements across the organisation.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of technical control documents and rail/road transport regulations.
• Understanding of health and safety legislation and engineering asset life‑cycle management.
• Experience with financial management principles, procurement processes and benefits management.
• Familiarity with digital document management tools, web technologies and data management systems.
• Awareness of innovation trends in transport engineering.
