Engineering Lecturer

About the role

New College Swindon is looking for an experienced engineer to join our Engineering department as an Engineering Lecturer. You will deliver T Level and HNC/D programmes, helping learners acquire the technical expertise and confidence needed for modern engineering careers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment across T Level and HNC/D Engineering programmes.
• Plan engaging lessons and practical activities covering CAD, engineering design, electronics, manufacturing processes and mechanical principles.
• Monitor learner progress, provide timely feedback and act as a personal tutor for academic and pastoral support.
• Integrate industry‑standard software, equipment and technologies into classroom activities.
• Support industry placements, employer‑led projects and maintain strong links with local employers.
• Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• A degree or higher qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience teaching, training or mentoring within an engineering environment.
• Understanding of Level 3 engineering qualifications and/or Higher Education.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners.

Required skills

• Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) knowledge.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor or Fusion 360.
• Electronics and manufacturing processes expertise.
• Mechanical engineering principles.
