About the role
We are partnering with an established manufacturing business in Macclesfield to find an experienced Engineering Manager. This full‑time, days‑based role (08:00‑16:00) leads the engineering function, ensuring maximum plant uptime, operational efficiency, and the development of a high‑performing engineering team.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a preventative maintenance strategy to minimise downtime and improve asset performance.
- Lead, coach and develop a multi‑skilled engineering team, fostering engagement and high performance.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental and ISO standards.
- Manage engineering budgets, contractors and procurement for cost‑effective solutions.
- Oversee CMMS systems to enhance maintenance planning and reliability.
- Collaborate with operations to meet production targets and drive continuous improvement.
- Analyse equipment performance data, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Plan and execute planned shutdowns and engineering projects.
- Lead capital expenditure projects from concept to completion.
- Champion a safety‑first culture and ensure adherence to site procedures and permit systems.
Required profile
- Strong electrical engineering background with expertise in control systems and PLCs.
- 3‑5+ years of engineering management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven people‑management and leadership capability.
- Experience managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
- Hands‑on experience with CMMS platforms.
- Ability to analyse data and drive root‑cause improvements.
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder influence.
- HND or Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).

- Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
- Lean manufacturing tools (5S, RCA, PDCA, 5‑Why)
- TPM / Autonomous Maintenance
- Process manufacturing knowledge (e.g., coatings, print)
- Machinery safety standards (e.g., SIL levels)
