Engineering Manager

About the role

Engineering Technical Manager for a global aerospace manufacturing business, based at the Sherborne facility. Lead the engineering function across the full manufacturing process, driving continuous improvement and ensuring delivery of high‑quality products.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across all manufacturing processes from assembly to product release.
• Support recruitment, training and succession planning within the engineering team.
• Offer technical support to production to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes across the complete production route.
• Lead process capability improvements to boost quality, throughput and productivity.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives and scrap reduction projects.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor engineering KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
• Resolve complex manufacturing and technical issues.
• Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation.
• Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.

Required profile

• HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering (or equivalent).
• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience as Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Lead Engineer or Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing process development and continuous improvement.
• Experience leading engineering teams.
• Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis, 8D and structured problem‑solving techniques.
• Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.

What we offer

• Competitive salary of £70,000‑£75,000 per year.
• Full‑time, Monday‑Friday onsite role.
