Engineering Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our multidisciplinary engineering team in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on engineering work, driving innovative, commercially viable and manufacturable products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic technology and product development plan.
• Lead the team to deliver engineering projects on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
• Manage budgets, people performance and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Build and maintain relationships with external partners and suppliers.
• Provide engineering support and practical technical input as needed (approximately 30% of time).

Required profile

• Collaborative leadership style with a growth mindset.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams in SME manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Test.
• Resilient, proactive and able to adapt when plans change.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or equivalent experience.
• ISO9001 knowledge or supplier development experience is a plus.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.
