Engineering Manager – Lead Innovative Teams

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to shape a new type of engineering culture at Ashby. You will empower engineers to write product specs, make product decisions, and deliver projects with minimal process overhead, fostering an optimistic, ownership‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build, coach, and grow a European engineering team of 25+ engineers.
• Promote autonomy by encouraging engineers to own loosely defined projects from start to finish.
• Provide feedback on product and technical specifications, helping engineers scope and improve quality.
• Stay hands‑on: debug customer issues, ship small bug fixes, and enhance developer experience.
• Lead cultural and performance initiatives rather than day‑to‑day sprint planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
• Passion for empowering engineers and fostering ownership.
• Ability to balance hands‑on coding with people‑management responsibilities.
• Strong communication and coaching skills.
• Comfort influencing product decisions without being the final decision‑maker.
