Engineering Manager – Lead Teams in Manchester

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead multiple engineering teams within a fast‑moving international environment. You will combine strong technical expertise with people leadership to drive delivery, influence architecture and ensure reliable production services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop 1‑3 engineering teams, fostering high performance.
• Coach and mentor engineers, supporting their growth and performance.
• Own delivery against roadmaps, milestones, KPIs and team health metrics.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Engineering and business stakeholders.
• Identify and remove delivery blockers, communicating risks clearly.
• Provide technical and architectural guidance across products and services.
• Take ownership of services in production, ensuring health, performance and reliability.
• Lead technical incident management, including root‑cause analysis and post‑mortems.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, systems and ways of working.
• Support recruitment, headcount planning and potentially participate in on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• 5+ years’ experience managing software engineering or development teams.
• Strong software engineering background with experience in architecture and system design.
• Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams in a fast‑paced Agile environment.
• Deep understanding of production systems, service ownership and incident management.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
