Engineering Manager – Python & AI Platform

About the role

This role leads a newly created engineering function focused on building scalable Python services, API architecture, and large‑scale data integrations that underpin AI products across the organisation. You will work closely with product, data, and architecture teams to establish the technical foundations for advanced analytics, automation and AI tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Build and grow a brand‑new software engineering team.
• Lead engineers developing Python‑based APIs and backend services.
• Drive integration of large, complex datasets from multiple sources.
• Define technical strategy together with Product, Data and Architecture teams.
• Establish engineering best practices, delivery processes and a strong team culture.
• Support architectural decisions around scalability, performance and reliability.
• Coach and develop engineers to create a high‑performing environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
• Strong background in backend engineering, preferably with Python.
• Track record delivering API‑first platforms and distributed systems.
• Experience with data‑intensive environments and large‑scale integrations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to balance technical leadership with people management.
