Engineering Technician – Electrical Focus

About the role

Northwood is seeking an Engineering Technician with an electrical focus to join its Lancaster site. You will be responsible for keeping critical paper‑mill and converting equipment running reliably through proactive maintenance and continuous‑improvement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programmes.
• Commission new projects and equipment.
• Use CMMS and planning tools to schedule weekly tasks and improvement projects.
• Perform root‑cause analysis on equipment failures and implement long‑term corrective actions.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory and purchasing systems.
• Carry out criticality and obsolescence assessments.
• Apply improvement tools such as 5S, TPM and Asset Management.
• Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports.
• Respond to on‑call emergencies (approximately one call‑out every five weeks).

Required profile

• Growth mindset with proactive thinking.
• NVQ Level 4/HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 18th Edition Electrical Qualification or completion of a time‑served apprenticeship.
