Engineering Workshop Manager

About the role

This is a hands‑on leadership position within an innovative engineering business based in Milton Keynes. You will lead a skilled workshop team while staying actively involved in daily engineering operations, shaping processes and supporting business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of workshop engineers.
• Manage day‑to‑day workshop activities, workloads and engineering priorities.
• Provide technical leadership and problem‑solving support.
• Plan and oversee engineering projects to meet schedule, budget and quality targets.
• Continuously improve workshop processes, procedures and ways of working.
• Manage workshop resources, tooling, equipment and budgets.
• Collaborate with design, test and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure all activities comply with health and safety requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• Proven experience managing engineering teams.
• Strong mechanical engineering background with understanding of electrical engineering principles.
• Hands‑on experience in a mechanical engineering environment.
• Experience planning engineering activities and managing projects.
• Ability to coach, mentor and develop engineers.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach and lead‑by‑example attitude.
