English Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full‑Time (Sept 2026)

About the role
This full‑time temporary position is for a recent English graduate who wants hands‑on experience in a mainstream primary school. You will join a supportive team in Barking and help raise literacy attainment across Key Stages 1 and 2.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver targeted literacy interventions to individuals and small groups.
- Support pupils with reading, writing, spelling, grammar and comprehension.
- Assist with phonics sessions and early‑year literacy activities.
- Provide additional academic support for pupils who need it.
- Help children build confidence in communication and language skills.
- Prepare engaging literacy resources and activities alongside teachers.
- Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
- Contribute to wider classroom learning across the curriculum.
Required profile
- Degree in English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, Journalism or a related subject from a UK university.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Excellent literacy skills with great attention to detail.
- Genuine passion for education and child development.
