English Lecturer – Flexible FE Teaching Role

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic English Lecturers to deliver flexible, ad‑hoc teaching in Further Education at Northumberland College. The role offers the chance to work within a supportive college environment and to build experience that could lead to longer‑term or permanent positions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging GCSE and/or Functional Skills English lessons to post‑16 learners.
• Support learners in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
• Plan and deliver inclusive, effective teaching sessions.
• Monitor learner progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
• Prepare learners for exams and assessments.
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching English.
• Strong subject knowledge in English and literacy.
• Ability to engage and support post‑16 learners.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Flexible and reliable approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
