English Lecturer (Functional Skills and GCSE)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic English Lecturer to deliver Functional Skills and GCSE English programmes for learners aged 16‑19 and adult apprentices across the South of England. The role can be undertaken on a part‑time or full‑time basis and is temporary, offering a competitive hourly rate inclusive of holiday pay.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver functional skills and GCSE English lessons to learners aged 16‑19 and adult apprentices.
• Plan, prepare and assess coursework and examinations in line with curriculum standards.
• Manage classroom behaviour and provide support to learners with diverse needs.
• Maintain accurate records, attendance and assessment documentation.

Required profile

• Teaching qualification (AET, PTLLS, PGCE or equivalent).
• Assessors qualification (A1, D33/D34, CAVA, TAQA or IQA) – or willingness to obtain.
• Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in English.
• Experience working with 16‑19‑year‑olds or apprentices in an educational setting.
• Current Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
