English Lecturer – Inspire Learners

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic English Lecturer to join the English department at New College Swindon. The role involves delivering high‑quality teaching across a range of English programmes and helping learners develop the communication and literacy skills they need for future success.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lessons, learning activities and assessments for diverse learner groups.
• Inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential in English.
• Plan and prepare resources that meet current curriculum requirements.
• Monitor progress, provide timely feedback and support to maximise achievement.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement within the department.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure an outstanding learner experience.
• Support learners in progressing to further education, apprenticeships, higher education or employment.

Required profile

• A degree in English or a closely related subject.
• A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
• Experience teaching, training or mentoring in an educational or workplace setting.
• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage learners from a range of backgrounds.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners.
