English SEN Teacher – Specialist School

About the role

We are seeking a qualified English teacher with extensive experience supporting pupils with special educational needs and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The role is based in a specialist school and starts in September, offering a permanent position within a supportive trust.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess tailored English lessons for pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and complex learning difficulties.
• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists and parents to optimise each learner’s progress.
• Implement a variety of strategies and interventions to support behaviour, emotional regulation and classroom engagement.
• Monitor pupil achievement, maintain accurate records and report progress regularly.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
• Proven experience working in a specialist school or with SEN/SEMH pupils.
• A nurturing, patient and flexible approach to teaching.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour support capabilities.
• Genuine passion for helping pupils with additional needs succeed.
