English Teacher – Secondary School (Key Stages 3‑4) – Hastings

About the role

Are you an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher looking for a new opportunity in Hastings? Hays Education is working closely with a secondary school that seeks a passionate English specialist to join their team.

Key responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging English Language and English Literature lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5).
• Preparing students for assessments and examinations and monitoring their progress.
• Providing constructive feedback and differentiating lessons to meet a range of abilities and learning needs.
• Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement and creating an inclusive classroom environment.
• Contributing to departmental planning, meetings and school activities while adhering to safeguarding and assessment policies.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent recognised teaching qualification).
• A degree or strong academic background in English or a related subject.
• Experience teaching English in a secondary school, with knowledge of the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one), and professional references.
