English Teacher – Secondary School (Key Stages 3‑4)

About the role

We are looking for a passionate English Teacher to join a large mixed secondary school in Newham, East London, starting September 2026. The role involves teaching Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop a love for literature and language while achieving strong academic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Assess, monitor and track student attainment, providing timely feedback.
• Differentiate learning to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities.
• Promote reading, writing and literature both inside and outside the classroom.
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental improvement initiatives.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance and academic achievement.
• Participate in school events, enrichment activities and wider departmental duties.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge of English Language and English Literature.
• Proven ability to plan and deliver inspiring lessons.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• High expectations of student achievement and conduct.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
