English Teacher – Specialist Day School

About the role

We are seeking a passionate English Teacher to join The Tower School, an independent specialist day school in Epping. You will deliver engaging, inclusive English lessons to pupils aged 11‑18 with autism and complex needs, supporting both academic and personal development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons.
• Create a safe, nurturing classroom environment.
• Assess, monitor and track pupil progress using Evidence for Learning.
• Use creative, experiential and personalised teaching approaches.
• Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to EHCP reviews, pupil reports and parent communication.
• Promote positive behaviour through restorative and therapeutic strategies.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a degree.
• Experience teaching English across Key Stages.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
• Ability to differentiate learning for a wide range of needs.
• Resilience, creativity and commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
• Experience in SEN or specialist settings is desirable.

Required skills

What we offer

• Salary up to £42,000 per annum (depending on experience).
• Permanent contract, term‑time only.
• 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday.
• Start date: September 2026.
