English Teacher – Supply Role (Secondary Academy)

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a qualified English Teacher to join a successful secondary academy in Trafford on a full‑time, long‑term supply basis starting September 2026. The position covers a temporary absence and involves teaching English Language and Literature to GCSE students (ages 11‑16) across five days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English Language and Literature aligned to the GCSE curriculum.
• Assess student progress using Assessment for Learning techniques and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain positive classroom management and uphold the school’s behaviour standards.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support the overall academic goals of the academy.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.
• Eligibility to work in the UK without restrictions.
• Enhanced DBS clearance (and overseas police checks if applicable).
• Ability to inspire students with strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for English literature.

• Proficiency in delivering GCSE English curriculum.
• Effective classroom management techniques.
• Experience with Assessment for Learning.
