Environmental Advisor

About the role

Murphy is seeking an Environmental Advisor to join its Infrastructure team delivering a major water infrastructure project for United Utilities under the AMP8 programme. The role involves ensuring environmental compliance throughout construction, liaising with regulators, clients and site teams, and supporting sustainable project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Secure all required environmental permits and licences before works commence.
• Manage day‑to‑day environmental aspects of construction activities.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and detailed reporting.
• Interpret environmental data and maintain waste‑management datasets.
• Ensure biodiversity recommendations are implemented and protected species are not disturbed.
• Review risk assessments, management plans, method statements and related documentation.
• Deliver toolbox talks and environmental briefings to site personnel and subcontractors.
• Liaise with stakeholders, local authorities and regulators to maintain compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience carrying out site audits, inspections and producing environmental reports.
• Knowledge of implementing environmental controls to satisfy DCO/planning conditions.
• Ability to lead investigations into environmental incidents.
• Experience training others on environmental management systems.
• Understanding of waste‑management processes and KPI reporting.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
