Environmental Permitting Consultant

About the role

This hybrid position is based in Liverpool (or North Wales) with flexible remote working. You will join a leading UK consultancy that delivers integrated engineering, environmental and project‑management services across the built environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the preparation, submission and management of environmental and planning permit applications.
• Liaise with regulators, local authorities and stakeholders to secure approvals and consents.
• Interpret and advise on environmental legislation, permitting requirements and compliance obligations.
• Prepare technical documentation such as permit applications, environmental statements and supporting reports.
• Monitor permit conditions and ensure ongoing compliance throughout project delivery.
• Provide clients with guidance on regulatory risks, timelines and permitting strategies.
• Support environmental assessments, impact assessments and risk evaluations aligned with permitting needs.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet regulatory standards.
• Assist with audits, inspections and responses to regulatory queries or enforcement matters.
• Maintain accurate records of permits, approvals and compliance documentation.

Required profile

• A degree in an environmental or related discipline.
• Experience within engineering, environmental consultancy or a related technical field.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage with clients and stakeholders.
• Proactive, collaborative approach and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, compliant and sustainable solutions.
