Escalator Improver (Heathrow - Day Shift)

About the role

KONE is hiring an Improver for its Heathrow escalator team, working a 4 on 4 off day shift from 6:00am to 6:00pm. The role suits someone starting a career in the escalator industry: you will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience, technical knowledge and industry qualifications while supporting the maintenance and repair of equipment at one of the UK's busiest airports.

Key responsibilities

• Support qualified escalator engineers with the maintenance, servicing and repair of escalators across Heathrow
• Help with fault finding and troubleshooting so equipment stays safe and reliable
• Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance under supervision
• Work in line with KONE safety standards and Heathrow airport procedures
• Build relationships with customers and on-site stakeholders
• Develop skills through structured training and on-the-job coaching
• Record work accurately using KONE digital tools and systems

Required profile

• A strong interest in engineering and a desire to build a career in the escalator industry
• Part-qualified (for example working towards NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) preferred
• Some mechanical or electrical experience or relevant qualification advantageous
• Proactive, hands-on approach with willingness to learn
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
• Team player able to cope with a fast-paced airport environment
• Full UK driving licence
• Flexibility for the 4 on 4 off, 6am-6pm shift and ability to meet airport security requirements
