ESOL Tutor – 1:1 English Tuition (Part‑time)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for enthusiastic ESOL Tutors to deliver one‑to‑one English tuition to learners in St Helens. This part‑time position offers the chance to help adult learners improve speaking, listening, reading and writing while supporting their personal, educational or employment goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 ESOL lessons tailored to each learner’s needs.
• Design and deliver personalised activities covering speaking, listening, reading and writing.
• Conduct sessions in learners’ homes, community venues or other agreed locations.
• Monitor progress, give feedback and adapt teaching strategies to ensure successful outcomes.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, CELTA, DELTA, TEFL/TESOL or equivalent).
• Proven experience delivering ESOL or English language tuition, preferably 1:1 or small groups.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Patient, adaptable and learner‑centred approach.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate (or already hold one).
• Two professional references related to work with children or vulnerable adults.

Required skills

• ESOL teaching methodologies.
• Lesson planning and assessment.

What we offer

• Flexible part‑time hours (5‑15 per week) starting September 2026.
• Hourly rate between £25 and £30.
• Ongoing training and support from Prospero Teaching.
