ESOL Tutor – 1:1 Support for Young Learners (Part‑time)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced ESOL Tutor to deliver one‑to‑one language support to young people with complex needs in Liverpool. The role is part‑time, starting September 2026, and involves teaching core subjects such as English and Maths to students who are currently out of mainstream education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personalised ESOL tuition to disengaged or SEND pupils on a one‑to‑one basis.
• Deliver lessons covering English language skills and basic maths concepts.
• Adapt teaching materials to meet the individual needs of each learner.
• Collaborate with local councils and SEND teams to monitor progress.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and achievement.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Proven experience working with students who have complex or special educational needs.
• UK classroom teaching experience, preferably with disengaged pupils.
• Creative, patient and able to think outside the box.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional child‑related references.

Required skills

• ESOL instruction.
• Knowledge of SEND frameworks.
• Lesson planning and differentiation.
