Estimating Manager – Passive Fire Protection

About the role

The Estimating Manager – Passive Fire Protection will lead the estimation function for a range of fire protection services, including fire doors, fire stopping and smoke control systems. Based in Guildford, the role combines technical costing with team leadership and client liaison across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Produce, review and price quotations for passive fire protection projects ranging from £50k to £1m.
• Maintain a steady pipeline of enquiries, quotations and live projects.
• Allocate incoming tenders to the internal estimating team and ensure deadlines are met.
• Manage, support and develop a team of estimators, monitoring workloads and performance.
• Visit project sites nationally (typically 2‑3 days per month) to gather data and validate assumptions.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
• Prepare and oversee project budgets, cost plans, risk and value management.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an estimator within the construction industry.
• Experience in fire protection or security sectors is highly advantageous.
• Proven people‑management experience.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel.
