European Transport Planner

About the role

The European Transport Planner will join a fast‑growing freight forwarding business in Dartford, coordinating cross‑border road movements between the UK and mainland Europe. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will optimise routes, allocate work to owner‑drivers and subcontractors, and ensure cost‑effective delivery for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate collections and deliveries across the UK and Europe.
• Allocate work to a network of owner‑drivers and subcontractors.
• Maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise empty running.
• Monitor delivery schedules and proactively resolve operational issues.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with transport partners.
• Ensure all transport activities are commercially viable and cost‑efficient.
• Support revenue growth through effective freight‑forwarding opportunities.
• Maintain accurate operational data, pricing structures and system updates.
• Handle invoice queries and support KPI reporting.

Required profile

• Experience within road freight operations or transport planning.
• Strong understanding of UK and European transport networks.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and profitability.
• Desired experience planning European road freight movements and exposure to owner‑driver networks.
