Evening HGV Technician – Preston

About the role

Join a professional workshop in Preston as an Evening HGV Technician. You will work the 11:30 pm‑8 pm shift, keeping a varied fleet of heavy goods vehicles safe, compliant and on the road.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure they meet DVSA standards.
• Perform safety inspections and compliance checks.
• Complete job cards and maintain accurate service records.
• Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Support colleagues and maintain a clean, organised workshop.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Previous experience maintaining and repairing HGVs.
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding abilities.
• Attention to detail and proactive approach.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
