Examinations Manager – Secondary School

About the role
Philosophy Education Ltd is partnering with a secondary school in Rochester, Kent to recruit an experienced Examinations Manager. The role involves coordinating and administering all internal and external examinations across the school, ensuring compliance with awarding body regulations and strict deadlines.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the full examination cycle, from entry processing to results day.
- Prepare and submit examination entries electronically to boards.
- Create timetables for examinations, invigilation, mock and public exams.
- Liaise with Heads of Department, SENCO, senior leadership and examination boards.
- Coordinate access arrangements and special accommodations for students.
- Oversee security, distribution and collection of examination papers and scripts.
- Organise results days and handle post‑results queries, re‑marks, appeals and missing marks.
- Recruit, schedule and support examination invigilators.
- Monitor the examinations budget and related expenditures.
Required profile
- Calm, methodical and highly organised with the ability to work independently.
- Proven experience in examinations administration or a school environment.
- Strong knowledge of examination boards and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with email and ICT systems.
- Familiarity with SIMS or ability to learn new school management software quickly.
- Use of examination board software and/or SIMS Exams module (desirable).
