Exams Officer – Temporary with potential permanent role

About the role

The Exams Officer will manage the full lifecycle of internal and external examinations within a busy East London school. This temporary position offers the chance to become permanent for the right candidate, providing vital support to students, staff and exam boards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and manage all internal and external exam schedules, register candidates and submit entries to awarding bodies.
• Ensure compliance with JCQ and awarding‑body regulations, and coordinate special consideration and access arrangements with the SENCo.
• Organise exam rooms, seating plans and invigilation rosters; brief invigilators and act as the main point of contact for exam‑related queries.
• Supervise exam conduct, respond to incidents, and maintain the integrity and fairness of the process.
• Coordinate secure collection, dispatch of scripts, and distribution of results; support post‑results services such as appeals and resits.
• Recruit, train, schedule and manage invigilators, maintaining records and authorising payroll.
• Produce exam analysis reports for senior leadership and ensure safeguarding and confidentiality standards are met.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and administrative abilities with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure during peak periods.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in a school or education environment and knowledge of JCQ regulations.
