Executive Director Infrastructure

About the role

The Executive Director Infrastructure will lead the planning, delivery and performance of all infrastructure services across Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this autonomous role translates legal and national policies into actionable strategies that keep the Trust’s sites compliant, safe and fit for purpose.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Trust’s infrastructure strategy, addressing legacy under‑investment and supporting sustainability and carbon‑reduction targets.
• Oversee reactive and planned preventive maintenance (PPM) across the estate, aligning with clinical and institutional priorities.
• Ensure legal compliance, safety, resilience and high‑quality customer service throughout the estate.
• Set and monitor financial and non‑financial performance targets, driving value for money and adherence to procurement regulations.
• Lead, develop and retain a skilled infrastructure team, fostering a culture of equity, diversity, inclusion and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Executive‑level leader with extensive experience in infrastructure, facilities or estate management within a large, complex organisation.
• Proven ability to translate policy into operational practice and deliver strategic transformation.
• Strong commitment to NHS values, EDI principles and cultural change.
