Experienced Bookkeeper for Accountancy Practice

About the role

Lloyd Recruitment Services is partnering with a well‑established accountancy practice in Lewes to find an experienced Bookkeeper. You will join a friendly, supportive team and manage bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of small and medium‑sized businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain general bookkeeping records for a range of clients, including sole traders and limited companies.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Post pre‑payments, accruals and produce management accounts.
• Liaise with HMRC via telephone and email when required.
• Use cloud‑based accounting software, preferably Xero, to record transactions and generate reports.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
• Proven ability to prepare VAT returns.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Client‑focused, professional attitude.

What we offer

• Salary between £30,000 and £34,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
• Full‑time contract with part‑time hours considered for the right candidate.
