Experienced Building Surveyor – Major & Complex Loss

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join the Major & Complex Loss Division of a global loss adjusting firm. You will manage technically demanding claims up to and exceeding £1 million, acting as the primary contact throughout each claim’s lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations and detailed surveys for complex loss claims.
• Liaise with local authorities, solicitors, repair contractors, and building control officers.
• Prepare cost valuations, structural repair recommendations, and regulatory compliance reports.
• Maintain clear communication with all parties and manage claim documentation.
• Travel to sites as required, including occasional overnight stays.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Building Surveyor within insurance or building reinstatement.
• Strong knowledge of building construction, regulations, and structural repair methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Up‑to‑date technical knowledge of cost valuation and regulatory requirements.
• Computer literate with ability to use various IT systems.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Professional qualifications such as MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent.
