Exploitation Support Worker – Support for At‑Risk Youth

About the role
As an Exploitation Support Worker you will provide confidential, empathetic assistance to young people affected by child criminal exploitation and missing, as well as to their families and carers. You will work within Missing People’s national helpline, delivering advice, advocacy and sign‑posting across multiple communication channels.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver anonymous support via phone, email, SMS and live chat, collaborating with the helpline team to offer a wrap‑around service.
- Assess referrals from police, local authorities and other professionals, determining suitability and urgency of support.
- Conduct case discussions, consult managers on heightened risk, and develop safety plans.
- Advocate on behalf of children, young people, parents and carers with external agencies and professionals.
- Provide clear information about Missing People’s services and partner organisations, ensuring families understand available support.
Required profile
- Significant experience supporting at‑risk young people and families in a social‑care, statutory or voluntary setting.
- Proven ability to advocate effectively for vulnerable individuals.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to distressing situations.
Required skills
- Experience handling confidential information.
- Ability to assess risk and make informed decisions.
- Competence in using digital communication tools (phone, email, chat platforms).
What we offer
- Fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2027 (35 hours/week, Monday‑Friday, 10 am‑6 pm).
