Export Supervisor – Logistics Operations

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, detail‑oriented Export Supervisor to lead day‑to‑day export operations within a fast‑paced logistics environment. You will oversee airline allocations, manage customs compliance and mentor a team of Export Clerks, acting as the senior point of contact for the department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, support and audit a team of three Export Clerks to ensure procedural adherence and operational efficiency.
• Complete export customs entries using the CDS system and guarantee full compliance with UK and international trade regulations.
• Process essential export documentation such as MAWBs, HAWBs, commercial invoices and shipping paperwork within strict deadlines.
• Manage airline relationships, handle space allocations and perform booking management for efficient transit routes.
• Serve as senior escalation point, liaising with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers, customs authorities and internal teams to resolve operational delays.
• Maintain comprehensive export transaction logs, audit trails and drive continuous improvement across logistics workflows.

Required profile

• Proven background in air freight forwarding, export logistics or cross‑border supply chain operations.
• Demonstrated ability to process customs entries via the CDS system and strong knowledge of UK export procedures.
• Experience supervising, mentoring and checking the work of junior operational staff.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to resolve live shipment exceptions under pressure.
• Clear, confident communication skills for effective interaction with carriers, regulatory bodies and internal departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Hands‑on experience using the CDS (Customs Declaration Service) system.
• Familiarity with freight management software for booking and allocation.
