EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to join our mainstream primary schools in Liverpool. You will support Nursery and Reception pupils with special educational needs, helping them feel safe, included and ready to learn from their first steps in education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support tailored to each child’s early learning and sensory needs.
• Assist the lead teacher in delivering EYFS lesson plans and play‑based activities using specialised strategies.
• Promote an inclusive, positive atmosphere that builds self‑esteem, independence and social interaction.
• Manage behaviour using early‑years techniques and school policies, supporting emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with the SENDCo and teaching staff to monitor, record and report pupil progress within the EYFS framework.
• Ensure pupil safety and provide assistance with personal care, hygiene or mobility when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience in UK schools, nurseries or a caregiving role (Special Education/Autism or Early Years experience preferred).
• Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS check on the update service and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs and a commitment to their early development.

What we offer

• Competitive daily rate of £95‑£115, dependent on experience.
• Full‑time, term‑time contract (08:30‑15:30, Monday‑Friday) starting September 2026.
