EYFS Teaching Assistant – Early Years Support

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a primary school in Wigan for a full‑time Teaching Assistant to support Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) children. You will work closely with the class teacher to nurture young learners and help them develop essential literacy, numeracy and social skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate EYFS lessons.
• Provide daily care, supervision and emotional support for EYFS pupils.
• Work one‑on‑one and in small groups to develop basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Help plan and prepare play‑based learning activities.
• Monitor and record children’s progress, sharing feedback with teachers and parents.
• Foster a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in an EYFS setting.
• Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Early Years Education or equivalent.
• Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and child development principles.
• Strong communication skills for working with children, parents and staff.
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic attitude with a genuine passion for early childhood education.
