Fabric Engineer

About the role

This is a mobile Fabric Engineer position covering South West London, providing reactive maintenance services to high‑profile clients. You will be the first point of contact, delivering high‑quality workmanship while adhering to health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform reactive and remedial maintenance across a range of building fabric tasks including carpentry, wet trades, minor plumbing, tiling and ground works.
• Source parts and materials, obtain manufacturer technical support, and complete detailed work write‑ups for client reporting.
• Use PDAs or electronic devices to record operations, maintenance logs and risk assessments, and liaise with the Helpdesk for efficient response.
• Provide call‑out response across all contracts, ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales and complies with regulations.

Required profile

• Relevant trade qualification to C&G or NVQ Level 2/3.
• Minimum three years’ experience in building maintenance, particularly reactive and remedial tasks.
• Broad knowledge of building systems and a full UK driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Carpentry, wet‑trade, minor plumbing, tiling and ground‑works proficiency.
• Use of PDAs/e‑devices for reporting and risk assessment.
• Fire‑door (FDIS) knowledge and fire compartmentation experience (desirable).
• Asbestos awareness (UKATA) and IOSH Working Safely or CSCS certification.
